This QRUHD Universal Quick Release Plate Kit is designed to allow mounting of unsupported controllers on to our QRUHD Quick Release System and also provides a stable surface for mounting our QRDee Base Mount 40 or QRPro Base Mount 40 to enable smaller controllers to be mounted without the need for them to be directly attached to a large QRUHD controller plate.
QRUHD DIY solutions
There are a lot of controllers available today and some have unique mountings (or none at all) that cannot directly translate to our QRUHD Quick Release system so here at QR4rigs, with this kit we have now provided you with a way for you to easily swap out your controllers on your rig when swapping between Racing and Flight sims where we have not managed to design a direct solution.
NOTE: the QRUHD Universal Quick Release Plate is NOT designed or constructed to support Direct Drive wheel bases.
This QRUHD Universal Quick Release plate is 15mm thick and attaches to any suitably strong sheet material (we will call this the Adapter Plate) which you will have to source, supply and attach your controller to by any means you deem suitable. The minimum footprint/size and thickness of the Adapter Plate should be large enough to allow for the heads of the fixings, but can be any size you like within reason to accomodate your controllers base. The larger the adapter plate, the thicker it would need to be to support your controller. For the QRUHDUniversal Quick Release Plate, we would recommend not exceeding 300mm2.
There are 3 rows / 3 columns of 6.6mm holes to accomodate 10mm Hex Head bolts or 10mm Nuts and 4 rows / 3 columns of 6.6mm holes to accomodate M6 Countersunk Screws, all from the underside of the plate. (see pictures for dimensions and placement of the holes)
We suggest the following minimum thickness of these example Adapter Plate sheet materials:
- Steel Sheet (stainless or painted) 2 - 3mm (~1⁄8")
- Aluminim Tread Sheet 2.5 - 4mm (~3⁄16")
- Acrylic/Plexiglass 5 - 6mm (~1⁄4")
- Plywood >6mm (>1⁄4")
We DO NOT supply the intermediate sheet material as this would make shipping costs ridiculous, most local hardware stores and online sheet material suppliers can supply and ship directly to you and some provide a very cheap cutting service too.
We supply a 1:1 scale accurate printed drawing you can affix to your sheet material to help you mark out the holes for the QR Plate.
QRDee/QRPro compatibility
If you are using the QRUHD to mount a large FFB Joystick, such as the VPforce Rhino, you may wish to swap it out for a more compact joystick that is already mounted to a QRDee or QRPro controller plate.
There are 4 M6x14mm Screws in the kit of the correct length to enable the attachment of a QRDee or QRPro Base Mount 40 to the top of the plate on the marked holes. The Base Mounts can be oriented in any direction, mounted centrally (side to side), in one of 3 places each.
This Kit includes:
- 1x QRUHD Universal QR Plate
- 4x M6x14mm s/s CSK Screws (for fixing QRDee or QRPro Base Mounts - not included)
- 1x A3 Template
You will need a QRUHD Quick Release Base Mount to mount to your rig in order to use the QR Plate in this kit.
