This QRMax Universal Quick Release Plate Kit is designed to allow mounting of unsupported controllers on to our QRMax Quick Release System.
There are a lot of controllers available today and some have unique mountings (or none at all) that cannot directly translate to our QRMax Quick Release system so here at QR4rigs, with this kit we have now provided you with a way for you to easily swap out your controllers on your rig when swapping between Racing and Flight sims where we have not managed to design a direct solution.
This QRMax Universal Quick Release plate attaches to any suitably strong sheet material (we will call this the Adapter Plate) which you will have to source, supply and attach your controller to by any means you deem suitable. The minimum footprint/size and thickness of the Adapter Plate should be large enough to allow for the heads of the fixings, but can be any size you like within reason to accomodate your controllers base. The larger the adapter plate, the thicker it would need to be to supoort your controller. For the QRMax Universal Quick Release Plate, we would recommend not exceeding 300mm2
All holes are tapped/threaded to M6 (6mmx1mm) standards and all fixing kits use this too.
We suggest the following minimum thickness of these example Adapter Plate sheet materials:
- Steel Sheet (stainless or painted) 2 - 3mm (~1⁄8")
- Aluminim Tread Sheet 2.5 - 4mm (~3⁄16")
- Acrylic/Plexiglass 5 - 6mm (~1⁄4")
- Plywood >6mm (>1⁄4")
We DO NOT supply the intermediate sheet material as this would make shipping costs ridiculous, most local hardware stores and online sheet material suppliers can supply and ship directly to you and some provide a very cheap cutting service too.
Screws are entirely optional and not included unless you choose a size when adding to the shopping cart.
We do however supply a 1:1 scale accurate printed drawing you can affix to your sheet material to help you mark out the holes for the QR Plates.
Some mounting screws of various types are optional to purchase, we strongly recommend that 6-8mm of the M6 thread is threaded into the QR Plate, please ensure that you add the thickness of your material to this to work out which screws you will need and DO NOT exceed 11mm depth in to the QRMax Universal Quick Release Plate
Examples of recommended fixing types/lengths:
- 3mm (1⁄8") Steel sheet = 12mm Flat head CAP Screws
- 4mm (3⁄16") Aluminium sheet =14mm CSK Screws
- 6mm (1⁄4") Acrylic/Plexiglass sheet = 16mm CSK Screws
- 9mm (3⁄8") Plywood sheet = 18mm CAP Screws c/w 1mm washer or 18mm CSK Screws
You can choose to add these to your order or to supply these yourself of course.
We have sourced some 12mm ultra Flat head CAP Allen screws that only protrude approx 1.5mm above the surface and have rounded edges. Alternatively, if you prefer a flush finish, you can choose from the Countersunk screws available or source your own, but please ensure that the screws do not go deeper than 11mm in to the body of the QRMax Universal Quick Release Plate.
This kit contains:
- 1x QRMax Universal QR Plate
- 1:1 scale printed drilling template
- 4x Screws can be chosen and are entirely optional
You will need a QRMax Quick Release Base Mount to mount to your rig in order to use the QR Plate in this kit.
Note: This item 3D printed, there will be obvious print lines on this product due to the nature of 3D printing.
